Ecological engineering is defined as "the design of sustainable ecosystems that integrate human society with its natural environment for the bendfit of both." It is a field which tries to utilize the self-organizing capacity of ecosystems to provide solutions to the resource and envi-ronmental problems.
The main objective of the ecological engineering program is to help students build systems thinking on nature and humanity and to proepare them to address the complex questions of resource allocation and environment management facing humanity in the 21st century.
